AI and officialist cultural management.
“When you see a cultural‑management association presenting a poster whose main visual element is an illustration generated by AI… and then you see a City Council subsidising a musicians’ parade ("alarde") with another poster also illustrated with AI… the conclusion is simple: the very people who should be defending artistic creation are the first to dispense with creators. And the best part is that when you point it out politely, they get offended — and even reply with things like: ‘Hi Natxo, AI helps but it doesn’t make the poster, nor the creative idea, nor the typography, nor the colours, nor the layout. Just to clarify.’ Personally, I saw their reply as the classic defensive line: ‘Yes, we used AI, but we don’t want it to sound like the poster is made by AI.’ But if the visual base —the illustration— is generated by AI, then AI does make the poster, because the image is 80% of the poster. The rest (fonts, colours, text placement) is just traditional layout work, not creation. Ironi
